Allen Co Farmer Dies - Funeral Services Conducted at McKendree Chapel in East Simpson Monday Afternoon - John F. Denson, 71, died at his home near Clare, in West Allen, at 2:30 Sunday afternoon following a stroke of Paralysis he suffered 3 days previous to his passing.  Mr. Denson was born and raised in that section, and was by everybody regarded as a splendid man and citizen.  He was a practical farmer and a member of the Methodist Church and a moral, upright, Christian gentleman.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hattie Perry Denson; a brother, Will Denson,  of  this place, and a half brother, Jesse Denson, of Logan Co Funeral Services were conducted at McKendree Chapel in East Simpson at 2;30 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon by Rev Ira Horne and the Rev. Steenbergen, of Scottsville, with burial in the Church Cemetery The Pallbearers were Roy Wims, Willie Sadler, Bobbie Perry, Eddie B. Perry, Herschel Denson, Madin Perry.

Mrs. Ruth Denson, wife of John Denson, died last Sunday night at the home of her brother-in-law, Mr Will Denson, where she was visiting. Her death was caused by a hemorrhage of the lungs and was sudden and unexpected. She only lived about a half hour after the attack.  Mrs. Denson was 27 years old. She was a daughter of the late William Sadler. Besides a husband she leaves a brother and two sisters--Alfred Sadler, Mrs. Chester Wright, and Mrs. James Beatty.  Her Funeral was preached by Rev. Austin, of near Portland, last Monday, and the remains were interred in the Chisholm burying ground near Lake Spring.

Heart Attack Kills William M. Denson Near Home Monday - Funeral services for William M. Denson, 77, who died of a heart attack near his home on the Black Jack Road at 12:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, were held at Booker's Funeral Home on Wednesday morning at 11:00 o'clock with Bro. Howard Ditmore officiating. Burial was in the Macedonia Cemetery Surviving are 10 children, in-chiding 6 daughters, Mrs Della Kelly and Mrs. Betty Rush, Bowling Green; Mrs. Effie Deathridge, Boyce, KY., and Mrs. Tom Dunham, Mrs. Lawrence Davenport and Miss Elizabeth Denson of Nashville, 4 sons, Herschel H. Denson, Franklin; Bobby Denson, Bowling Green; and Chas. Denson and William M. Denson who are stationed with the U. S. Army in Alaska.

Mrs. Jane Ditmore, wife of Mr. Geo. Ditmore, died at her home near Franklin last Sunday morning after an illness from stomach trouble. She was a devout member of the Methodist Church, and of the Co. Besides her husband, six children survive her: Mrs. Rick Sadler, Mrs. Guy Burton and John Ditmore of Oklahoma, Joe Ditmore of Franklin, and George and Charlie Ditmore. Funeral services were conducted at the home on Monday after which burial followed in Green Lawn Cemetery.

Frank "Jack" Duncan, 89, of Scottsville, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1994 at the HCA Greenview Hospital in Bowling Green. Services were Jan. 15 at Goad Funeral Home in Scottsville with the Rev. Eddie Tabor officiating. Burial was in the Mt Vernon Cemetery in Simpson Co.  New Salem lodge No. 462 held Masonic rites Jan. 14 at the funeral home. A native of Allen Co, he was a farmer and a member of the Mt Vernon Missionary Baptist Church and New Salem Masonic Lodge No. 462 F&AM. He was the son of the late H.G.and Elizabeth Calvert Duncan. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Perry Duncan of Scottsville; one son, Billy Duncan of Scottsville; one daughter, Peggy Renick of Scottsville; one brother, Audrey Duncan of Scottsville; three sisters, Cleon Thomas of Lexington, Kate Towe and Chole Pitchford, both of Scottsville; seven grand-children, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grand-children. A son, James Henry Duncan, preceded him in death.

The Veteran Physician, Called to His Eternal Home - Dr. George W. Duncan is dead. He passed away at his home in this place last Friday morning, after a distressing illness of many months. While his death did not come in the nature of a surprise, so universally was he beloved and esteemed that it was nonetheless deplored. Dr. Duncan was possibly the best-known man in Simpson County. For more than a half century he had been an active, energetic practitioner of his profession, and during these years he was called time and again to all parts of the county. It was only within the last few years that his work has been circumscribed and his territory lessened. The funeral took place at the Cumberland Presbyterian church last Sunday afternoon at three o'clock In the presence of hundreds of friends who had assembled to pay him the last tribute of respect. Hon. Geo C Harris, Hon. W. J. Gooch, Rev. A. Malone, Rev. S. H. Lovelace and Rev. J. D. Hunter made addresses. The remains were laid away in Green Lawn cemetery. The following biographical sketch is taken from the History of Kentucky, and will be of interest to Dr. Duncan's many friends: Dr. George W. Duncan was born January 26, 1826, in Simpson County, Ky., and was the tenth of eight boys and four girls born to Sanford and Nancy (Hammond) Duncan. Dr. G. W. Duncan was reared on a farm and received a good education, etc.

28 SEPT 1905. A cablegram from Franklin bearing the sad tidings that his beloved father had "crossed over the river to rest under the shade of the trees" was handed DR. Will A. Duncan at Honolulu, a few days ago, as he was sailing across the waters to do army service in the far away Philippine Islands.

Myrtle PERRY DUNCAN, 91, formerly of Scottsville, died June 30, 1996 at the Medco Center in Bowling Green.  Funeral Services were held July 3 at Goad Funeral Home in Scottsville.  The Rev. Elree Yates and the Rev. Harold Moore officiated.  Burial followed at Mt. Vernon Cemetery.  Ms. Duncan was a native of Logan Co, a homemaker, and a member of the Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church and New Salem Chapter Number 38 Order of the Eastern Star.  She was the daughter of the late Henry and Annie Morie PERRY and widow of Frank "Jack" DUNCAN.  Survivors include one son , Billy P. DUNCAN of Scottsville; one daughter, Peggy D. Renick of Scottsville.

Rondal Wayne Durham, 34, of Franklin, died Feb. 21, 2005 at his residence. Funeral services were held Feb. 23 at Crafton Funeral Home with burial at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Durham was a native of Warren County and son of the John Wayne Durham of Franklin who survives and the late Barbara Mayes Durham. Other survivors in addition to his father include one daughter, Amber Cavett of Franklin; one sister, Stephanie Durham Loveall of Franklin; one half brother, Courtney Wayne Durham of Bowling Green; a grandfather, Lawrence Brady Durham of Franklin; several aunts and uncles of Franklin.

Joel Dyer Dies At Age Of 84 Years - Joel DYER, aged 84 years, died at an early hour Wednesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred WALKER, on Long Fork Creek.  Death was attributed to infirmities incident to old age.  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty BEASLEY DYER; five sons, Donald, Joel, Jr., Milton and Jesse DYER, all of Lafayette; and Sammie DYER, of Nashville; five daughters, Mrs. C.A. MCCLANAHAN, of Route 1, Bethpage; Mrs. Georgia GANN and Mrs. Rachel BRANSFORD, both of Nashville; and Mrs. Fred WALKER, with whom the deceased had lived for the past 4 months; 40 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.  Funeral Services are to be held on Friday morning of this week, at 10:00 by Elder Calvin Gregory, from Hillsdale Baptist.. Church, of which the deceased had been a member for nearly 70 years. Burial is to follow the services, with interment on Lick Creek in the family Cemetery.  The deceased was a native of Trousdale Co, and was the son of Samuel and Elizabeth KENT DYER. He was the brother of the late John J. DYER, for many years a leading Baptist.. minister of North Middle TN  He became identified with I. O. O. F. fraternal organization many years.
