Mr. Spencer Batsell, who once resided in Franklin, where he was known and esteemed by everybody, but who for a number of years has made his home with Mr. M. M. Wall on the latter’s estate near the Logan and Simpson line, dropped dead Tuesday from heart failure at the Bell Meade Stock farm near Nashville. He had been staying in Tennessee during the past year, where he had charge of s string of horses belonging to [illegible]. Mr. Batsell was never married and was about 70 years of age. His remains were brought to this place and laid to rest in Green Lawn cemetery yesterday.

Deaths In The County - Mrs. James Beatty, and estimable woman of the Lake Springs country, died at her home last Saturday. She was thirty-nine years old and her death came after a lingering illness of consumption. The internment took place at the Chisholm burying ground, House and Sons conducting the burial. In Loving Memory of Lawrence K. Berry - The world has known but few more noble Christian characters than L. K. Berry. Mr. Berry was born in Sumner County, Tenn., in 1839. He professed faith in Christ at a tender age and ever afterward, through a long life of 69 years, walked close to God. He had been for many years an honored citizen of Simpson County and a deacon in the Sulpher Spring Baptist church... He was for several years a sufferer from an incurable stomach trouble, which caused his death July 25, 1908. A short service was held at the home of his brother, L. G. Berry, conducted by the Rev. J. T. McGlothlin. Mr. Berry was one of a family of ten children, he being the fifth to cross to the other side. He leaves of his immediate family a wife and two sons, one son having preceded him to the other shore some fifteen years since. 6 Aug 1908. Tribute to Lawrence K. Berry - Mr. Berry was born Dec 23, 1839. When the civil war came, he cast his lot with the Confederacy and made a valiant and faithful soldier. He came home from the war and was married to Miss Millie Ann Clayton. There were born to them three sons, two of whom with his wife survive him...

Early Monday morning at the residence of her devoted daughter, MRS. H. K. WADE, the spirit of Mrs. SALLIE T. BIBE winged its way to its eternal home... Mrs. Bibb was born in Glasgow, Kentucky, November 26, 1840... She was married in 1856 to Rev. T. W. BIBE, for over fifteen years pastor of the First Baptist Church of Franklin, Kentucky, and their happy union was blessed by eight children, four of whom survive their good father and mother; MRS. H. K. WADE, Mrs. JENNIE DEVANEY, MRS. DR. HUMPHREYS, of New York City, and MRS. LYFORD HORNER, of Helena. Her remains were carried to her old home, Franklin, Kentucky, for interment, the funeral being conducted from the First Baptist Church, of Franklin, of which her husband was for so many years the beloved pastor... Besides her four daughters, Mrs. Bibb left behind two brothers and one sister, cot. J. T. BARLOW, of Fayetteville, J. P. BARLOW of Cave City, Ky., and MRS. C. C. TERRY, of Glasgow, Ky. During her 18 years residence in Fayetteville she made a number of friends...

In the "New Middle Fork" news column - Mr. Sid Blankenship, an aged and wealthy citizen of Southeast Simpson died Sunday at 2 o'clock p.m. Mr. Blankenship has been a sufferer for the past six weeks from cancer of the stomach. The burial service was conducted by House & Son of Franklin. The remains were interred in the cemetery at Shady Grove. The bereaved wife and children have the prayers and sympathy of their friends

Mr. Thomas Hill Blewett, one of the oldest citizens of Warren county, died Saturday at his home in Woodburn, infirmities of old age being the cause. Three months ago his aged companion passed away. He leaves three daughters, Mrs. V. K. Nichol, Mrs. 0.L. Morris and Miss Rebecca Blewett, and one son, J. T. Blewett. Mr. Blewett was a Confederate veteran, having served with John Morgan's brigade and was a life-long Democrat... He was an uncle of Mr. John S. Blewett, of this county and Mr. Eli Blewett, of Franklin.

Funeral services for Bony Boren were held Monday afternoon at Booker Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Burke officiating. Burial was at Greenlawn Cemetery. Boren, age 84 of Franklin died Saturday morning at the Bowling Green Medical Center after a long illness. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Albert and Nancy Ellen Boren. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs James Brown of Portland, Tenn, two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon for Elmer Virgil Boren at Booker Funeral Home with Dr. Eugene M. Fleming, Rev. William G. Crawford and Mr. Paul Hodges officiating. Burial was in. Maple Hill Cemetery in Portland. Boren, age 75 of Franklin, died Saturday morning at the Franklin-Simpson Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Sumner County, Tenn, and the son of the late Thad and. Melissa Hardin Boren. He was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church and a retired barber. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lela Ruth Taylor Boren of Franklin; one daughter, Mrs. Susan Groves, Brentwood, Tn.; one brother, Raymond Boron, Portland, Tn.; three sisters, Miss Flora Boren, Springfield, Tn., Mrs. Annie Kirkham, Cape Girardeau, Mo, and Mrs. Estelle Woodard, Portland, and two grandchildren

Hickory Flat Man, Frank Boren, 86, Dies Here Tuesday - Services for Frank A. Boren, 86, of the Hickory Flat Community, were held today at Booker Funeral Home on West Cedar. Burial was at the Round Pond Cemetery. Boren, a retired farmer, died Tuesday night at his home. A native of Simpson Co, he was the son of the late Albert C. Boren and Nancy Ellen Boren. Survivors include one son, Herman Boren; two sisters, Mrs. Lige Smith and Mrs. A. J Ray; one brother, Boney Boren and one grandchild, all of Franklin.

Mr. Herman Boren, 89, of Franklin, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002 at the Medical Center in Franklin. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002 at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin A native of Simpson Co., he was the son of the late Frank A. Boren and the late Carrie Mae Johnson Boren. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Boren, of Franklin; one son, Rick Boren and his wife Beverly Boren, of Franklin; one granddaughter, Cari Mcbrayer and husband Lee, of Franklin; and one grandson, Craig Boren, of Louisville. Mr. Boren was a farmer and member of the McKendree Chapel Methodist Church. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of one's choice

Simpson Farmer Killed In Accidental Shooting - James C. Boren, 36-year-old East Simpson farmer, died from a rifle bullet wound in an accidental shooting on his farm about a mile from Pleasant Hill church early Sunday morning. He was struck by a ricocheting 22-caliber bullet his 12-year-old son fired at a squirrel in a tree. Boren died a few minutes after he was hit. The boy, James U. Boren, and his father had gone into a woods-lot to kill a squirrel to make soup for Boren's sick mother. Simpson Co Coroner Harry Booker said Boren was standing on the opposite side of the tree from where his son fired the rifle. The bullet struck the tree, glanced about 40 feet downward and pierced Boren's chest just below the heart, Booker stated. After falling to the ground about 10 feet from the tree, Boren asked his son to go to the house for help. Before aid could reach the scene, a little over a quarter of a mile from the dwelling, the wounded man died. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the McKendree Chapel Methodist church with the Rev. Hobart Cook, Salmons pastor, and the Rev. E. C. Cole, Allen Co, officiating. Burial was in the church Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mae Dyson Boren, the son, James D. John W. Boren, 43, Dies At Nashville Hospital Is First Traffic Death - A 43-year-old Franklin man has become Simpson County’s first traffic fatality of 1961. John W. Boren died last Thursday night at Thayer Veterans Hospital at Nashville. Boren was injured here January 2 when a car he was driving hit a utility pole on South Main Street. Funeral services were conducted last Sunday afternoon at the Brownlee and Turner Chapel. The Reverend Hobart Cook officiated. Burial was in Greenlawn cemetery. Survivors included his wife, Mrs. Wilma Hammond Boren, Franklin; his father, Will Boren, Franklin; a brother, Porter Boren, Franklin; five sisters, Mrs. Luther Hinton, Mrs. Lee Gaines and Mrs. Dale Mayhew—all of A 11 e n County; Mrs. Cecil Morris, Portland, Tenn.; and Mrs. Harold Waldsmith, Lafayette, Md.

Mrs. K. Boren Dies After Long Illness At Hickory Flat - Funeral services for Mrs. Kathleen Gatewood Boren, age 53, who died Saturday in east Simpson, were conducted here Monday morning at the Brownlee and Turner Funeral Home. Mrs. Boren died at her home in the Hickory Flat community after a long illness. The Rev. J. V. Case, Jr., pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church, conducted services. Burial was at Greenlawn Cemetery here. A native of Allen Co, Mrs. Boren was the daughter of the late Bloom Gatewood and Mary Dawning Gatewood. Surviving are her husband Boney Boren; a daughter, Miss Judy Boren, Simpson Co; a sister, Mrs. Will Francis, Gainesville, Fla., and two nieces.

Mrs. Lillie Hines Boren, 80, of Franklin, died April 3, 1987, at H.C.A. Greenview Hospital I Bowling Green after a brief Illness. Services were held April 5 at Crafton Funeral Home with Rev. James Hodges and Rev. Mark Webber officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery. A native of Warren County, she was the daughter of the late Abe and Louetta Cornwell Hines. Survivors include one step-son, James Sidney Morris of Whitehouse, Tenn.; three step-daughters, Mrs. Willie Taylor of San Angelo, Texas, Mrs. Mary Edna Summers and Mrs. Ollie H Summers, both of Bowling Green; several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Cora Mae Harper of Franklin.

Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Boren, 71, who died at the Western State Hospital in Hopkinsville on Sunday night, January 16, 1949 after a three weeks illness, were conducted at Brownies-Turner Funeral Home on Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock with John H. Gerrard, minister of the Franklin Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Purdue Cemetery in Sumner County, Tenn. Surviving are one son, Clarence Bonn, Paducah, Ky., two sisters, Mrs. Maud Meguiar, Franklin and Mrs. P. W. Hubbard, Adairville, Ky; two brothers, Herschel Holloway, Franklin; and Curtis Holloway, Rockfield, Ky; and three, grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mrs. Melissa Boren, Portland Resident, Dies At Nashville - Funeral services for Mrs. Melissa Hardin Boren, 81-year-old resident of Portland, Tenn., were held Tuesday afternoon at Wilkerson and Wiseman Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Patton officiating. Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Boren died August 4 in a Nashville hospital, following a long illness. A native of Sumner County, Mrs. Boren was the wife of the late Thad Boron. Survivors include three daughters, Miss Flora Boren, Mrs. William Lane, and Mrs. Harve Woodard, all of Portland; two Sons, Elmer Boron of Franklin; Raymond Boron of, Portland; one sister, Mts. Paul V. “Porter’ Boren, 74, of Franklin, died Jan. 26, 1996 at Franklin–Simpson Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Jan. 8 at Crafton Funeral Home with Dr. Denis Plank and Bro. Sid Crabtree officiating. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery. A Simpson County native, he was the son of the late Will P and Narcissa Denning Boren, a retired contractor, member of the American Legion Post #62, New Salem Masonic Lodge% and an Army Veteran of World War 2. Survivors include his wife, Ms. Dorothy Buchanan Boren; one daughter, Ms. Linda Ferrett, of Franklin; one son, Ken Boren of Franklin; three sister, Ms. Billie Morris and Ms. Myrtle Gaines, both of Franklin and Ms. Lucille Waldsmith of Knoxville, Tenn one granddaughter; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

Raymond Douglas Boren, 77, of Franklin, died June 7, 1986 at his home. Services were held June 9 at Wilkinson-Wiseman Funeral Home at Portland, Tenn. Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery at Portland, Tenn. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillie Boren; and three sisters, Miss Flora Boren of Franklin, Mrs. Annie Kirkham o f Hendersonville, Tenn and Mrs. Estell Woodard of Portland, TN.

T. G. Boren, Dies At Highland Monday After Long Illness - Funeral services for Thadus Granville Boren, age 82, a former resident of. Franklin, were conducted at the Wilkerson-Wisemann Funeral Home at Portland Wednesday afternoon, with burial at Maple Hill Cemetery at Portland. Mr. Boren died at Highland Sanatorium Monday night after a long illness. He was the son of the late Edward Boren and Julia Ann Cook Boren. Surviving are his wife: Mrs. Melissa Hardin Boren; three Daughters: Mrs. William Lane, Mrs Harve Woodward and Miss Flora Boren, all of Portland; two sons, Raymond Boren, Portland and Elmer Boren of Franklin; a brother, George Boren, Portland; three sisters: Miss Edna Boren and Mrs. J. D. Short, Portland, and Mrs. Bertha Hilburn, Noble, Ill.; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

MARION BRADLEY Dies At His Home Tuesday Morning, Jan 6, 1920 Thoroughly Esteemed Citizen and Possessed of Splendid Intelligence

Marion Bradley, aged 60 years, died at his home in Franklin at 1 o’clock Tuesday morning. For the past year his health had not been robust, but he was not thought by his friends to be suffering from any malady than would hasten the end. Two weeks ago, however, he complained of feeling ill and for the greater portion of the time had kept indoors. He grew worse Monday and at one o’clock Tuesday morning as stated above. He was a cabinet workman and thoroughly efficient at his work. He found time from his labors, however, to pursue an extensive course of reading and was recognized as one of the county’s best informed men. Genial, kind-hearted and generous, he sustained the friendship of all classes, and now that he walks no more among his fellows, it is doubtful if he left an enemy behind. The deceased was a bachelor and besides his brother, Mr. W. J. Bradley, whose home is at Memphis, Tenn., he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Cardwell of the county, and Misses Amanda and Nannie Bradley of this city. Funeral services were conducted from the residence Wednesday afternoon at 1 o’clock by Rev. J. P. Scruggs, followed by burial in Green Lawn

Funeral services for Dr. B. L Bradshaw, 73, retired osteopath, who died at his home in Tompkinsville, Ky., on Saturday morning, February 12, after a long illness, were held at the Tompkinsville Methodist Church, on Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock. . Burial was in Tompkinsville. Dr. Bradshaw was born in east Simpson County, a son of the late Jim and Sallie Hatfield Bradshaw. He attended Bethel College in Russellville and was graduated from the old Franklin School of Osteopathy. Dr Bradshaw was married to Miss Chloe Evans of Tompkinsville in 1905 and on the death of her father gave up his practice and assumed the management of the deceased’s hardware, grocery and drug business. He later founded the Bradshaw-Hagan Hardware and Grocery Co. In 1908 he was appointed postmaster under the Wilson Administration. Eight years later he founded the Bradshaw Hagen Motor Company. In 1932 he was again appointed postmaster under the Roosevelt-Truman administration, resigning in 1946. Dr. Bradshaw served as Democratic County Chairman for years and was an ardent sportsman, raising fine bird dogs. Surviving is his wife Mrs. Chloe Evans Bradshaw, two daughters, Mrs. Tom Carter and Mrs. Howard McClendon, of Tompkinsville, one son, Tom Bradshaw, Deland Fla; 2 brothers, E S Bradshaw and Jack Bradshaw, Franklin and 6 grandchildren.

Mrs E S Bradshaw dies Saturday Morning – Health had been bad for the past year, yet her passing was a distinct shock – Mrs Florence Bradshaw, aged 62 year, died at her home on Wade St Saturday morning after an illness of several months. Although her family and friends were aware that the malady from which she was suffering was incurable, they were nevertheless unprepared and the news of her death was heard with profound regret throughout the entire county. Before her marriage she was Miss Florence Wade, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Frank Wade, pioneer citizens, and was genuinely beloved by everybody who knew her. Mrs Bradshaw was a typical representative of the important class designated in America as “homemakers” and no epitaph or Eulogy could be written that would more strongly endear her memory to those whom she was nearest. Besides her husband, Judge E S Bradshaw she is survived by a daughter, Miss Sara Bradshaw and a brother, Mr pail Wade. Funeral services were conducted at the residence, at 2:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon by Rev J G Barbe, and burial made in Greenlawn.

Erasmus Smith Bradshaw, 87, who began public life as Middleton Constable and concluded it as County judge, died here last night, Feb 26. In excellent health until a few weeks ago, Mr Bradshaw died at Carter Moore Community Hospital after suffering a heart attack. A Member of a pioneer Simpson County Ky family, he served as County Judge from 1930 to 1934. Previously he had been a constable and Magistrate at Middleton, Simpson CO, Ky and Circuit Court Clerk. Mr Bradshaw also practiced law and in later years was a representative for insurance agencies. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm tomorrow, Feb 28 at Booker Funeral Home. The Rev Bailey F Davis, Bapt minister in Franklin will officiate. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, Franklin, Ky. He was born in the Hickory Flat Community, son of the late James W and Sallie Hatfield Bradshaw. His wife was the late Florence Wade Bradshaw. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs C E Gillispie, Franklin, 3 sisters; Mrs J W Evans, Mrs R E Dooley and Mrs E H Field, all of Estis, FL and a brother, J H Bradshaw, Franklin. Pallbearers will be A B Crow, Forrest Dinning, Joe B Clark, David Martin, John R Gillispie, Roy Steers, Lilburn S Rogers and Will Caudill.

Fannie Vaughn, first born of Mr and Mrs S H Bradshaw, after an illness of more than 2 weeks, died at their house on East Cedar street, Sunday evening at nightfall aged 3 years. On the following afternoon a brief service was conducted at the residence by rev L B Chaney, assisted by Rev A Malone, the burial at Green Lawn occurring immediately afterward.

Jack Bradshaw Dies Following Stroke Suffered Sunday - Funeral services for Jack H Bradshaw, who died Monday night at his home on West Kentucky Avenue, were held yesterday at Booker’s funeral home. Burial was in Greenlawn cemetery. Mr. Bradshaw, 70, suffered a cerebral hemorrhage Sunday. A native of the Middleton Community, he was the son of the late James William and Sallie Hatfield Bradshaw. He served as a deputy collector of internal revenue for 10 years. The Rev. Bailey F. Davis, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiated at the funeral services. The survivors are his wife, Ruby Long Bradshaw; three sisters, Mrs. J W. Evans, Mrs. R E Duley and Mrs. C. II. Field, all of Eustis, Fla. Pallbearers were Allison Taylor, L. Bivins, Robert Bryan, John LaRue, Dilliard Williams and Gene Howerton.

James W Bradshaw - Passes Peacefully to final reward - Was among the County's Oldest and Best Known Citizens - James E Bradshaw, who was born January 8, 1834, died at the home of his son Judge E S Bradshaw here at 6:15 Friday evening after an illness of a month. He was engaged in merchandising at Palmyra (Rapids) half a century ago and later moved to a farm in the western section of the county until a few years ago. Since the death of his wife in 1915, he has made his home with his son, E S Bradshaw. Eight children: 4 sons: Judge E S Bradshaw Franklin, Dr Sam Bradshaw of Georgia, W L Bradshaw of Tompkinsville, Ky, J H Bradshaw of Rockville, MO, 4 daughters: Mrs Will Harper, FL, Mrs R E Duley and Mrs J W Evans of Rockville, MO and Mrs C H Pollock, MO. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 pm by Father Miller of Winchester, TN, followed by burial in Greenlawn.

Mrs Sallie Bradshaw, wife of James W Bradshaw, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Josephine Harper in the city, Monday night from uremic poisoning. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Hatfield and was born near Hickory Flats 78 years ago. Rest not readable.

Mr. OLIVER BROWN, who was perhaps the oldest resident of Allen county, died at his home in the Long Creek country, Monday morning of disabilities incident to extreme old age. Mr. Brown was the oldest son of HENRY BROWN, one of the pioneer settlers of Ailen county, and who in his day was the largest landowner in Southern Kentucky. At the time of his death, Mr. Oliver Brown, was closely approaching his 90th year... He reared a large family, was one of the pillars of the Baptist church...

Obituaries March - April - May, 1910 - Typed and Contributed by Linda Carpenter - ©2002 - (Thursday, - Identified By Friends - Body of Wm. J. Brown of Pleasant Hill Taken From Nashville - The remains of Wm. J. Brown, who received a fatal blow from some unknown source near Edgefield Junction on April 1, and who died later in Nashville, were buried Sunday at Old Fountain Head Cemetery. He was a citizen of the Pleasant Hill community where his wife and ten small children who survive him reside. He never regained consciousness and his death is a mystery. The supposition is that he was walking on the railroad track and was struck by a train. His body remained in Nashville for several days, but was finally identified by friends and brought home for burial. The deceased was 42 years of age and was a son of Anthony and Martha Moye Brown who were well known in this county. Mr. Brown was upright in all his business dealings and his death is greatly deplored by a large circle of friends and relatives. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. S. Thompson

John P Bryan died at 10:00 Monday. Mr John P Bryan, 71, practically known by every citizen of Simpson Co, Ky, died of a brief illness on pneumonia. He was born in Simpson Co where he resided all of his life. When the war between the states was declared, he was in sympathy with the south, but felt his duty was to remain home with his parents. He grew up amid the struggle of African slavery and knew the antebellum negro, as did few men who survive him. A plain gentleman, a true friend had the respect of all who knew him. He had the confidence of all. The Rev Deweese of the Methodist Church conducted funeral services at the residence Saturday afternoon and he was buried in Greenlawn Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Keturah May Bryan ; 2 sons Joe and Henry Bryan; 2 daughters, Mrs Joe Atkerson and Mrs Claude Hampton.

Joseph C. Bryan, Retired business man of Simpson Co died at his home near Franklin on Thursday morning from hardening of the arteries after an illness of 2 years. Besides his wife 3 sons survive him, William R Bryan of the undertaking firm of House and Bryan, John and Matt Bryan and 4 daughters. He was a brother of mayor W R Bryan. Mr Bryan was 64 years old and a Confederate Veteran. Since the organization of Camp Walker UCV in the community in which he lived He had held the office of commander for 3 years when his health began to fail him. He had held th record of having never missed attending a Confederate reunion until the one this year at Richmond, Va. The funeral services were conducted this afternoon, Aug 27, 1915 at 2:00 by the Rev N L Moore. The internment followed at Greenlawn.

Miss Tommie Bryan Passes Away - Was Eighty-one Years of Age and Member of a Pioneer Family - Miss Tommie Bryan, 81 years old, died at her home on College Street at 7 o’clock Sunday evening. She suffered a broken hip from a fall sustained Friday before and death was d7aused from pneumonia. Miss Bryan was a daughter of a pioneer family and half a century or more ago she was graduated from old Cedar Bluff College, one of the most famous early educational institutions in this section of Kentucky. She was a devout Christian woman, and a typical representative of Southern womanhood of the old South. Failing eyesight for the past dozen years had forced her to relinquish all activities, but her genial, nature endeared her alike to old and young, and her passing will be heard with genuine regret. She is survived by one brother ex-Mayor W H Bryan. Funeral services were conducted from the House & Bryan Mortuary on Cedar Street at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon by Rev. J. G. Barbe, of the, Baptist Church, and burial made in Green Lawn.

SCOTTSVILLE — Lee Roy BUTLER, 54, of Bowling Green died Feb. 12, 2003, at the home of his sister in Franklin.
The Warren County native was a former R.J. Zachery Steel employee. He was a son of the late Roy BUTLER and Edna FORSHEE BUTLER.

Funeral will be at noon Wednesday at Bailey-Turner-Winkenhofer Heritage Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home .

Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann BUTLER; two daughters, Samantha LUNDY and Sabrina RIGGSBEE, both of Bowling Green; a son, LeRoy RIGGSBEE of Bowling Green; two stepdaughters, Tracy RIGGSBEE and Kimberly BELL, both of Bowling Green; two brothers, Terry BUTLER of Bowling Green and Darrell BUTLER of Richardsville; five sisters, Shirley EMBERTON and Pamela RICHMOND both of Bowling Green, Bonnie MEADOR and Carolyn BUNCH both of Franklin, and Martha GROSS of Brownsville; and 10 grandchildren

Roy BUTLER

Roy BUTLER, 77, of Bowling Green died Aug. 19, 1999, at The Medical Center.
The Barren County native was a retired farmer. He was a son of the late Pump BUTLER and Lizzie BUTLER.

Graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today at Bailey-Turner-Winkenhofer Funeral Home.

Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn S. BUNCH and Pamela RICHMOND, both of Bowling Green, Bonnie B. MEADOR of Franklin and Martha GROSS of Brownsville; three sons, Leroy BUTLER, Darrell BUTLER and Terry BUTLER all of Bowling Green; a sister, Era RICH of Bowling Green; and a brother, Horace BUTLER of Scottsville.

Funeral services for Eugene Chester Butt; 79-year-old. Native of Simpson Co, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Booker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Briant A Houchins and Rev. W S Doyle officiating. Burial was at Salem Cemetery. Mr Butt died unexpectedly July 26 at his home in the Matlock Community of Warren Co. A retired Farmer Mr. Butt was a son of the late Benjamin F and Mrs. Tabitha Hendricks Butt. Survivors. Include his wife, Mrs Mamie Long Butt of Warren Co; four sisters, Mrs Kate Hagans band Mrs Anna Stanley, both of Franklin: Mrs Hassie Wright of Indianapolis, Ind, and Mrs Allie Kirchner of Louisville, KY, and a brother, Raleigh Butt of Hopkinsville.

James V. "Dink" Butt, 80, of Franklin, died July 13, 1995 at Greenview Hospital in Bowling Green after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held July 16 at Crafton Funeral Home. Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery. A Simpson County native he was a 30 year veteran of the Franklin Fire Department, a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church, and he was the son of the late Notley Conn Butt and Mary Florence Smith Butt. Survivors include his wife, Ms Alma Perdue Butt, two daughters: Mrs. Barbara Gann and Mrs. Linda Dorris, both of Franklin, one son, Kenneth Butt, of Franklin, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Death Claims Mrs Conn Butt – Was 63 Years Of Age And Member Of Franklin Baptist Church – Mrs Jennie Smith Butt, 63 years of age and the wife of Conn Butt, died from a complication of disease Wednesday night, March 1, at her home in West Simpson. Funeral services were conducted Friday at McKendree Chapel by the Rev H C Adkins, assisted by Mr Jim Wade. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The deceased was a devoted wife and mother and a consecrated member of the Franklin Baptist Church, and her womanly traits of character endeared her to a wide circle of friends. Besides her husband, she is survived by six children; Mrs H M Beach, Toledo, Ohio; Mr Wilson Butt, San Bernardino, California; Messrs. Leland, Virgil and Vernon Butt, Sumner Co, Tennessee and Miss Ruth Butt of this County. She is also survived by 4 sisters; Madame’s Charlie Jernigan, Douglas Butt, Louisville; Mrs Delbert Perdue, Brackentown, Tenn, and Mrs C G Garrett of this city.

Funeral Services for Raleigh Edwin Butt, 78 Hopkinsville, were held at 10:30 Wednesday morning at the Henninger Funeral Home, Hopkinsville. Burial was at the Fairview Cemetery, Bowling Green, at 1:00 Wednesday afternoon. Butt, a native of Simpson Co, died Tuesday at the Western State Hospital, Hopkinsville, after a long illness. He was the son of the late B F and Tabitha Butt. Surviving are 43 sisters including Mrs Anna Stanley and Mrs Kate Hagans of Franklin.

Dies In Minnesota – The body of Richard Ellis Butt, 68 years old, who died in Hibbing Minn, while on a visit to his son Ellis M Butt, reached Franklin yesterday by special buss for burial in the Butt and Pirkle Cemetery at 3:00 PM. The Deceased was born in Allen County and for 40 years made his home in Simpson County, but left here a number of years ago to make his home in the west. Besides his wife who lives in California, he is survived by 4 daughters, Mrs, C L Avery and Mrs Ethel Rapp, Chicago, Mrs R L Devees, California and Mrs T S Devees, Niagara Falls, and 3 sons Ellis M Butt, Hibbing Minn, Edgar Butt, Bowling Green and Oscar Butt, Niagara Falls.

On Saturday at her home on the Big Springs neighborhood, Mrs Susan Butt died at the age of 71 years. The deceased was married to R P Butt in Feb 1842. Ten Children survive her, 8 sons and 2 daughters with 40 living grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mrs Butt was a church communicant for 52 years. Funeral services were conducted at her home by Rev J H Dashwood and the internment occurred at the family graveyard (Butt Cemetery).
