Thomas Garth
According to some publications, Thomas Garth was born in 1740 in Surrey, England, the eldest son of John Garth, of Louisa County, Virginia. However, John, was already in Virginia by 1733. Thomas married Judith Bowcock, daughter of Salem Bobcock and Susannah Bow(e) of Louisa County, Virginia, about 1761. This couple lived in Albemarle County, Virginia until Thomas' death there in 1812 and Judith's on February 1, 1806.

died in August of 1829 in Stokes County, North Carolina. Susan's first husband was Isaac Dalton, whom she married on September 8, 1789 in Albemarle County, Virginia. Isaac Dalton was born in 1770 and died May 14, 1825, in Stokes County, North Carolina. She married her second husband, Hezekiah Arnold on April 7, 1825. He died on August 14, 1844, Stokes County, North Carolina. |

He married first on November 6, 1785, Susannah Crenshaw. She was born on May 5, 1775 or 1777 and died on April 21, 1802, Albemarle County, Virginia. Elijah married second on June 18, 1804 to Catharine Wayt. She was born July 13, 1770 and died on January 10, 1845 in Trenton, Kentucky. Elijah died on September 3, 1816 in Christian County, Kentucky. |

John Garth
John Garth, son of Judith and Thomas Garth, migrated to Scott County, Kentucky in late 1700 or early 1800. On December 18, 1803 he signed as a witness for the will of Nathan Adams, Scott County. He appears on the census for Scott County, Kentucky in 1810. On June 17, 1782, he married Ann Harris Rodes,daughter of John Rodes and Sarah Harris. Ann was born on July 23, 1763 in Albemarle County, Virginia. She was deceased by 1795, Scott County, Kentucky. John died on November 9, 1835 in Scott County, Kentucky and is buried at Walnut Hall Farm, Scott County, Kentucky. John married second, Sarah Griffith before 1796, probably in Scott County, Kentucky.
John Garth was a private in the Virginia Militia and received a Revolutionary War pension. In March 1789, he and his wife, Ann, sold their land in Albemarle County, Virginia and set out for Woodford County, Kentucky. He bought some of the finest horse-breeding land - 374 acres of Kentucky Bluegrass on the waters of the Elkhorn near Georgetown. When Scott County was formed from Woodford in 1792, John was on the first board of magistrates and was appointed a captain in the 12th Regiment of militia. His wife Ann died 1795-1795.

1813 Lucinda J. Carigan. Rodes died on November 14, 1846 in Wayne County, Kentucky. He is buried in a family cemetery near Monticello, Kentucky. Lucinda was born on October 16, 1798 and died in St. Louis, Missouri on November 18, 1864. She is buried in the Cavalry Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. |

1805 in Paris, Bourbon County, Kentucky, second wife of Amasa Delano of Woodford County, Kentucky. Judith died on December 24, 1828 in Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio. Amasa was born on May 30, 1775 in Woodstock, Vermont and died in Ross County, Ohio on August 26, 1830. |

Thompson/Thomson. She was born on February 19, 1796 in Kentucky and died on October 21, 1881, Boone County, Kentucky. One son, William. Marriage ended in divorce. Thomas married second on November 4, 1826 to Joanna Lucas. She was born 1806 or 1808 and died January 17, 1881. Thomas died April 20, 1840, he and Joanna are buried in Paris City Cemetery in Bourbon County, Kentucky. |

She was born about 1799 and died on February 23, 1887. Samuel died on June 5, 1851, in St. Louis, Missouri. He and Phillippa are buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri. |
