Scott County, Kentucky
Family Bible Records
Before the
legal record there was the Family Bible. Every family had one. Quit often
a bible was given to a couple as a wedding
gift.
Usually
located in the front of the bible were pages to record the history of their
life together. Prior to state or local record of a
birth
or death
the bible was the only written record that existed. In many courts the Family
Bible record was exhibited and sworn to be
the
true record of an individual's birth, death or
marriage.
