James Rankin, William Rankin and Amberry Rankin, all came to Menard, then
Sangamon County, Illinois in the early 1830s from Harrison County, Kentucky.
They acquired contiguous land in the Athens, Illinois community. Menard County
was incorporated 1839. James, b. 1777 - and Anna DILLS, b. 1784 in Pennsylvania,
were the parents of William, b. Sept. 15, 1819 in Harrison County, Kentucky.
William was one of 6 sons. What family relationship existed with Amberry,
b Nov 30, 1806 in Cythiana, Harrison Co., Ky.? I feel certain there was a
blood connection, but what, Uncle, cousin,or brother? They all are buried
in Indian Point Cemetery near Athens, Menard County, Illinois. Can anyone
enlighten me? I have considerable data on the descendants of William. I shall
be delighted to share if asked.

I am looking for information on my wife's great grandfather and his family.
He was born in December of 1858 and believed to be from Harrison County,
Kentucky. His name is Robert Rainey Beckett, which indicates a connection
to the Rainey family. I found census listings for a Jane Beckett without
the father listed which, showed sons Joseph, John and Robert R. Beckett.
This listing would be the right age. She later married Lewis Williams and
had several more children. Any information related to these individuals would
be appreciated.

I recently found a record of a marriage between Elizabeth Senate and William
Williams in Harrrison County, Kentucky on May 25, 1794. I am wondering if
she is the same Elizabeth Senate, who married David C. Cole ca 1795. Elizabeth
and David were living in Fayette County, Kentucky when they moved to Missouri
ca 1798. At the time, they had two sons, Robert and Jacob. The family may
have been French-Catholic.
