My direct
ancestor is Mary Mastin, born in Harrison County, Kentucky. Her parents
were Lucy Florence, Harrison County, Kentucky and James Chappell Mastin,
Nicholas County, Kentucky. James parents were Caleb Mastin (b: abt
1832 in Nicholas County) and died March 27, 1860 in Nicholas County. He
married Nancy Ann Hollar of Nicholas County on September 29, 1853. She
was born about 1837. My question is after Caleb died, did she remarry?
Does Nancy and Caleb Mastin have more children? I have information
on the Mastin that states the family came through Bourbon County, Kentucky
from Bedford County, Virginia. One of their ancestors - Forqueran came into
Henrico County, Virginia in 1714 on the ship Nassau as a French Huguenot.
I also have some information on the Hollar family. Willing to
share.

I am interested
in any information about Hugh Cowan that married Margaret Buchanan, in Bourbon
County on October 9, 1794. Some Cowan histories say this Hugh must
have married Rachel Breckenridge in 1795, but I disagree. There are
two Hugh's in the census records. My Hugh Cowan was on the Franklin
County tax list on August 10, 1801. He is again listed with a family
in Scott County on the 1810 census. I find him back in Bourbon County
on the 1820 census. I think this Margaret Buchanan is the sister of Wilson
Buchanan that was also married in Bourbon County in 1795. Hugh Cowan is suspected
to be my wifes'
GGGG-grandfather
that came to Ripley County, Indiana in the 1830s. Any information about
Hugh, Margaret and children will be greatly appreciated.
