Lucky/Luckey Genealogy

Samuel Lucky is listed on various North Carolina census indexes.  He had a son or grandson, James Lucky born in
North Carolina about 1802.  James next appears on the 1840 census for Nicholas County, Kentucky. He and his family
are listed on 1850 census. Children are: Catharine, Matthew, Mary E., Nathaniel L., Sidda G., Sarah H., Martha Ann
and Eliza R.

Nathaniel L. Lucky married Martha Marshall (b: 1843) about 1860.  Martha was the daughter of Samuel (b: 1812)
and Rebecca (b; 1810) Marshall of Nicholas County.  Martha and Nathaniel had two children; James S., born 1862
and William Atwood, born June 17, 1865.  Martha Lucky died in 1868 at the age of 24.

Nathaniel L. Lucky enlisted in the 99th Regiment, Ohio Infantry when they were ordered to Cynthiana in September
of 1862.  He enlisted after the birth of his first son, James.  William the second son was born after he returned
home in late 1864.  Martha and son James lived with Nathaniel's father while he was gone to war.  During his service
Nathaniel's regiment fought in battles of Perryville, Kentucky; Stones River, Tennessee; Chickamauga, Tennessee;
Chattanooga, Tennessee; Ringgold Gap, Dalton, Atlanta, Rocky Face Ridge, Resaca, Pickett's Mill, Marietta, Kolb's Farm,
Kennesaw Mountain and Jonesborough Georgia; Nashville, Columbia and Franklin, Tennessee.

In 1880, Nathaniel L. Lucky was living in Buena Vista, Harrison County, Kentucky reporting his age as 40 with his
occupation as a farmer.  After the death of Martha, he had remarried.  His wife, Nancy Ann and children James,
William Atwood, John M., Robert Lee and Ola Bee Lucky were among the household.

William Atwood Lucky married Mary Elizabeth Yates about 1888.  She was the daughter of William (b: 1851-d:1933)
and Annie Yates (b: 1852-d: 1928).  William and Mary had children; Bessie A., born 1890 and Charles Lee, born
January 14, 1977. Spelling of the Lucky named was changed to Luckey, sometime prior to the death of Charles
Lee in 1977.

Charles Lee Luckey married Laurel Belle Faulconer (b: July 25, 1898-d: October 03, 1998) in 1916.  Their children
were; Charles William (b: September 4, 1919-d: June 13, 1989) and Robert E. (b: May 23, 1923).

Laura Belle Faulconer, was the daughter of George W. and Elizabeth Swinford Faulconer.  George W. Faulconer
(b: July 15, 1859-d: January 28, 1930) was a son of Reuben and Ann M. Sinclair Faulconer.  Reuben married
Ann on December 8, 1856.  Ann (b: 1838-d: May 11, 1896 Scott County) was the daughter of Seth Sinclair and
Nancy Boyce.  Along with their nine children they lived their lives in Harrison County. After Ann's death, Reuben
continued to farm and in later years with different family members. He was living in Hinton when he died and is
buried in the Raven Creek Cemetery.

Reuben Newman Faulconer (b: July 7, 1833-d: April 9, 1924) was the son of Edmund Faulconer (b: March 26, 1800
VA-d: January 7, 1877 KY) and Elizabeth "Betsy" Hedger (b: November 14, 1800 KY-d: September 1, 1865). She was
the daughter of Jonathan Hedger (b: 1765 New Jersey-d: July 1825 Harrison County, KY) and Mary "Polly" Caplinger.
Edmond and Betsy are buried in the Swinford Cemetery in Harrison County, Kentucky. Edmond's grandfather, Reuben,
was the son of Samuel Faulconer (b: 1742 VA) and Elizabeth Mosley Newman (b:1754 VA). In 1810, Samuel Faulconer
brought his family through the Cumberland Gap to Kentucky and settled on Raven Creek in Hinton, Harrison County,
Kentucky. The Faulconer family descends from Thomas Faulconer who in 1622 arrived in Virginia from England on the
ship Mary Providence.
