Rev. James Alfred Peters
James
Alfred Peters, was born in New Castle, Henry County, Kentucky and died in
Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky. For many years
he
was
the minister of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. His tombstone, in the
Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Franklin County reads;
Rev.
James A. Peters, October 20, 1822 - April 3, 1904. He married first
about 1844 to Elizabeth "Bettie" White. He and his wife are listed
on
the
1860 census for Shelby County and the 1870, and 1880 census for the Bald
Knob district of Franklin County, Kentucky. Bettie was
born
on April 7, 1823 and died April 14, 1892. James married second
on December 26, 1894 to Elizabeth P. Shepard. She was born in
1842
and
died in 1900. Both wives are buried beside James at Pleasant Ridge Baptist
Church Cemetery in Franklin County, Kentucky.
John
O. Peters was born on October 11, 1849 and died September 7, 1866. He
is listed in the household of his parents on the 1870
Shelby County, Kentucky census. John is buried in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. |
William
M. Peters was born about 1844 according to census. He appears on the
1860 census in the household of his parents and gone
by 1870. Like John, he may have died young. |
James
A. Peters was born on October 20, 1852. He is on the 1860 and 1870
census in the household of his parents. About 1872 he
married Lucy. They are on the 1880 census Bald Knob district for Franklin County with children: Louiza, b. abt. 1873; Minnie, b. abt. 1875 and Myrtle b. abt 1878. James died on March 20, 1928 and is buried beside his wife Lucy Johnson Peters (July 8, 1848 - July 9, 1929) in the Frankfort Cemetery. |
Martha F. Peters born about 1855. She is living in the household of her parents on the 1860 and 1870 census. |
Thomas
Jefferson Peters was born in July of 1859 in Franklin County and died April
9, 1934, in Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky.
He married first about 1876 to Rhoda Duvall, daughter of Lot. They appear on the 1880 census for Franklin County with two children. Rhoda died about 1884. She and T. J. are buried at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
Children: F. Joseph, born about 1879 and may have died young. He is not mentioned in the obituary of his father or siblings.
Emma
Peters, born 1882 and died 1954. She married Julius S. Penn (1878-1958).
Both are buried at Pleasant Ridge Baptist
Church
Thomas
Jefferson, married second before 1900 to Mollie Catherine Peters, daughter
of David A. Peters and Elizabeth Church Peters.

Mary Peters was born about 1862, probably in Franklin County, Kentucky.
She is listed in the household of her parents on the 1870
and 1880 census for the Bald Knob district of Franklin County. |
