Isaac Roman Miller
Isaac
was born 1800 to William Miller and Catherine Roman, Jessamine County Kentucky
tax records include William Miller prior
to his
appearance in records of Fayette County, Kentucky where, in 1805, Catherine
was the administrator of his estate. Jessamine
County
has John B. Miller as a neighbor to William Miller and Fayette County has
John as a bondsman for the estate. Catherine was
the
daughter of Isaac Roman. Researchers of Roman family incorrectly include
a marriage of Catherine Miller to Richard Marsh
27 January
1808. The marriage records show the bondsman as Mr. Usher. The Fayette
County history biography for Joseph Milward
tells
that his grandmother married Mr. Usher, and that his mother married a Mr.
Marsh. We should conclude that Richard Marsh
was
not Isaac R. Miller's stepfather.

Catherine
Miller married Andrew Stanton 10 July 1811, Jessamine County, Kentucky. Marriage
records in Jessamine County show
that
children of William and Catherine were Isaac R., Rachel, Hannah, Polly and
Elizabeth. Andrew Stanton consented to the
marriage
of Polly
Miller to Wm. Reynolds, 31 January 1822; to the marriage of Elizabeth Miller
to Bartlett Searcy, 11 December 1827 and to
the
marriage of Rachel Miller to David Hall, 5 August 1828. William Reynolds
was bondsman for Rachel and Isaac Miller was
bondsman
for Polly. Isaac married Sarah Hall, David Hall's
sister.
Isaac
R. Miller married Sarah Hall, 5 August 1822, Henry County, Kentucky. She
was the daughter of Squire Hall and Joanna
Roberts.
Sarah
had a long illness and died 15 August 1849, age 46. Her obituary in the Lexington
Observer said she was the "consort" of
Mr.
Isaac R. Miller of this city.
Isaac
R. Miller and Louise Gallahue were married in Franklin County, Kentucky 25
July 1850. (Marriage bond was July 23, 1850).
Louise
was the daughter of Charles Gallahue and Mary Jane Ashmore. Isaac was
near his new inlaws during the 1850, 1860 and
1870
census.
(They were in Franklin, Scott and then Franklin Counties). When he lived
in Lexington, he had been in business with
Samuel
Redd,
making bags. In the 1870 census he is shown as a retired grocery
man.
Isaac
R. Miller is buried in the Frankfort Cemetery. A book of tombstone recordings
shows dates: 27 November 1800 - 1 April 1979.
The
recording, from the old stone, shows Isaac B., but the dates fit the census
records, which show him ate 68 in 1870 and
Louisa
as a widow in 1880, Forks of Elkhorn census. The Frankfort Cemetery sextant
had little information on Isaac except that he
was
from the Forks of Elkhorn community.
