Francis Graham Family

Francis Graham was born about 1750 in Botetourt County, Virginia to * William Graham of Ireland and his wife Priscilla. Francis left Augusta County, Virginia and arrived in Kentucky in 1786. He served as a private and eventually Captain in the Revolutionary War from Augusta County. Francis Graham married on January 28, 1768  to Elizabeth Robinson,  He came to Franklin County, Kentucky about 1796 and settled on Elkhorn and later married his second wife Nancy Partlow on September 14, 1805. Francis Graham died in Franklin County, Kentucky on December 10, 1809. His will is recorded in Franklin County will book 1, page 52.  He names his wife Nancy, son John and appoints William Montgomery and William Phillips, his sons-in-law as executors.  In a Court of Appeal deed, book Q, page 392, dated December 13, 1812, children and representatives of Francis Graham, deceased.  The heirs believe that Francis Graham intended to devise by his last will and testament, land on which he lived, in fee simple instead of a life estate to son John Graham.  They released their right, title and interest to their brother, John Graham. Graham, Susan Graham, Larkin Samuel, Kitty Samuel, Lyddall Bacon, Patsey Bacon, Spencer Runyan, Elizabeth Runyan, Robinson Graham, Francis Graham, Polly B. T. Graham, William Montgomery, Percilla Montgomery, William T. Phillips, Peggy Phillips and William Graham.

* Brian Walls states William Graham of Ireland was actually born in White Clay Creek Hundred, New Castle County, Pennsylvania (now Delaware). His wife was Priscilla Robinson and parents were George Graham and Elizabeth (maiden name unknown). William had an elder brother Francis. The Graham's and Robinson's came to Virginia together.

William Graham, born in 1768 in Virginia.  He married Margaret "Peggy" Montgomery on January 16, 1798 in
Franklin County. William built Graham's Tavern north of the railroad at Jett. He died on November 10, 1845, at
Forks of Elkhorn. Contact on this line - Dana
Margaret "Peggy" Graham, was born November 20, 1771 in Botetourt County, Virginia and died August 7, 1843.  
She married William T. Phillips on February 12, 1803 in Franklin County, Kentucky.  William was born in 1779 in New Jersey.
Four known children were Rebecca, who married Austin Piety Cox; Elizabeth; Fanny and Joseph Francis
Catherine "Kitty" Graham, born in Virginia about 1774 and died 1861.  She married Larkin Samuel, Jr. in Franklin
County on July 7, 1810. Children were:  Lucy, Larkin Robinson, Catherine and Mariann Samuel.
Priscilla Graham, born in 1776 married William Bryant about 1790 in Botetourt County, Virginia.  She married
second in Franklin County, Kentucky on November 4, 1801 to William Montgomery.  Priscilla was his second wife

and bore him children; Francis Graham; Samuel C.; James Harvey; Jeptha Dudley; Louisa and Priscilla Montgomery.
Priscilla Graham Montgomery died in 1822.
Francis Graham, Jr., born June 4, 1777, probably the second son.  He married Mary "Polly" B. T. Finnie in
1808. Francis died October 1, 1837 and is buried in the Graham Cemetery, Indian Gap Road, between Peaks Mill
and Owenton Road in Franklin County. Children were: Margaret, John R., Mary, Robert, Benjamin F., J. F.; J. Taylor

and a daughter married A. B. Bacon.
Martha "Patsy" Graham, was born February 27, 1779 and died in Frankfort on September 27, 1865.  She
married Lyddall Bacon on March 6, 1800 in Franklin County, Kentucky. Known children were; Edmond A., John M.

ande William R. Bacon.  Contact on this line - Dorothy
George Washington Graham, born 1780 and died 1863.  On April 10, 1804 in Franklin County, George, married
Susan G. Runyan, born 1786 and died 1849. Family lived in South Frankfort.
Elizabeth "Betsy" Graham, was born before 1783.  She  was under age when she married Spencer Runyan on
June 26, 1804 in Franklin County. Consent was given by her father, Francis Graham.  Betsy died October 28, 1851,
in Grant County, Kentucky and is buried in the Williamstown Cemetery.  Contact on this line Tom
Robinson Graham, born in Virginia in 1783 and died in action during the War of 1812.
David Graham, was born 1784 and died 1863.  He married Sally Bacon in Franklin County on January 13, 1812. Only
one child, Elizabeth married a Vallandingham.
James Graham, born 1786, possibly born in Kentucky, was bitten by a snake and died in 1805 - never married
John H. "Jack" Graham, was born about 1788 in Kentucky.  He died single about 1839 - never married
