Bertha Alice Hubalek was born on October 30, 1904 to Elmer J. Tilton and Clara (Austen) Tilton, Collyer, Kansas. She died Monday, March 2, 1987 at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney, Kansas. She was 82 years of age.

She married Henry Ehrichs on May 12, 1926. He died on August 17, 1936. Two children were born to this union, Ross H Ehrichs and Henrietta Moden.

On August 6, 1939, Bertha married James Martin. He then died on December 22, 1948. One son, Marvin L. Martin was born to this union.

Miles Hubalek and Bertha were wed on October 17, 1950. Miles passed away on April 17, 1981.

Bertha grew up at Collyer and attended the Collyer schools and after graduation she also taught school in the Collyer area. She joined the Methodist Church as an early age and was active in the U.M.W., Sunday School and other church activities.

She was a 50-year member of The Order of Eastern Star and in November of 1987 she would have been a 50 years member of the Rebecca Lodge. Bertha was an honorary member of the U.M.W. and the Ladies Golf Club and was active in many other organizations.

Bertha was a very giving and caring person and always had time to do for others. She didn't want you to go out of your way for her, but she would always go out of her way for you.

Bertha is survived by her daughter, Henrietta Moden and husband, Ernest Moden, WaKeeney; two sons, Ross Ehrichs and wife Lou of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Marvin Martin and wife Jayne of Delphos, Kansas; a sister Minnie Burbach of Collyer; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and two sisters. Ellen Barnes and Florence Sparks.

Services were held on March 5 1987, in the First United Methodist Church, WaKeeney, at 2 p.m. Burial was in the WaKeeney Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Methodist Church, WaKeeney.
