William "Bill" Robert Hafliger, 76, WaKeeney, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at his home.

He was born Nov. 24, 1932, in rural Trego County to Friederich John and Stella Mae (Lessor) Hafliger. He was a 1951 graduate of Trego Community High School. He married Virginia (Sherfick) Hafliger on July 28, 1956, in Oakley. He was a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Robert Hafliger; three daughters, Colleen Wedermyer, Connie Bobbitt, and Sharon Hafliger; two brothers, John Hafliger, and Fred Raymond Hafliger; three daughters, Clara Stoppel and Joan Stoppel, and Fern Clark; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Donna Sue Hafliger.

Burial in WaKeeney City Cemetery, with military rites by Fort Riley Color Guard.
