Mrs. Mary Jane Payne Obituary


Mrs. Mary Jane Payne, 82, a pioneer resident of Reno county, died in her home, 318 East B. at 10:30 last night after four months illness. She was the widow of Thomas W. Payne, one of the first salt workers here.

Mrs. Payne was born in Indiana November 18, 1857, and came to Reno county with her parents more than 60 years ago. They settled on a farm 12 miles south of Hutchinson.

Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. H. N. Lawson of Beaver, Okla; Mrs. T. J. Hostetler of Littleton, Colo.; Mrs. B. O. Briant and Mrs. Charles Fulton of Hutchinson, and a son T. H. Payne of Beaumont, Tex.

Mrs. Payne was a member of the Methodist church.
