J. H. McClurg Obituary

J. H. McClurg

Was born in Jamestown, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, January 5th, 1840, and died at his home five miles northwest of Turon February 7th, 1912, being at the time of his death 72 years, 1 month, and 2 days, of age.

He was married to Sarah Smith in Brown county, Kansas, July 15th, 1860.  To this union were born two children, both having preceded him to the spirit land, one dying in childhood.  His wife, three sisters and twelve grandchildren, and a host of friends survive to mourn his departure.

He obeyed the gospel of Christ a number of years ago, and has been a faithful member of the Church of Christ ever since.

He came to Reno county, Kansas, about 28 years ago where he has since resided.  He was loved by all who knew him.

Funeral services were conducted from the Neola meeting house February 9th, at eleven o’clock by C. A. Loney in the presence of a large assemblage of friends, after which all that was mortal of Bro. McClurg was interred in the Turon Cemetery.
