John Clark Obituary

Source:  Arlington Enterprise, May 13, 1943, PG. 3

John was manager of the Standard Oil Co. in Arlington and member of the city council for several years.  He had been in poor health for some time and was on leave of absence.  He had gone to California for his health, but had returned recently.

He had gone to Hutchinson Saturday to consult a physician and
arrangements were made for him to go to a Hutchinson hospital to undergo a major operation.  Tuesday afternoon he drove to the home of his brother-in-law, six miles south of Arlington returning to Arlington about 7 P.M.

About two hours later a passing motorist discovered his body on the ground at the rear of his parked car, dead with a bullet wound through his head.  He had shot himself with a small caliber shotgun.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge at Sterling; the Eastern Star chapter at Arlington and the Arlington Methodist church.

Daughter and husband lived at Greensburg. Son was at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina.
