Welcome To Reno County, Kansas

Henry Burgess Obituary

Obituary:
HENRY BURGESS
Henry Burgess was born May 15, 1833, in Fayette County, West Virginia, and died November 9, 1903 aged 70 years, 6 months, and 15 days. He was married to Jennie (Jane H.) Huddleston December 11, 1859. To this union were born 13 children, 8 sons and 5 daughters. A wife, 6 sons and 4 daughters survive him, all living in Reno County, but one son in Kansas City, two daughters near Louisburg, Kansas and one daughter near Payola, Kansas. He moved to Miami County, Kansas in the year of 1870; from there he moved to Reno County in 1884, and resided there until his death. His death was due to a liver complaint. All the children were at his bedside when he died, but one son and three daughters. It makes it seem so much sadder to know that the son Homer had just passed away only four months ago. The funeral was held in the M. E. Church at Sterling on Wednesday, November 11, 1903, conducted by Dr. D. D. Akin. The remains were interred in Cottonwood Cemetery.
