The residents of this city were saddened Friday morning to learn that W. B. Martin, one of the old residents of Council Grove had passed to his reward.
Wooster Beech Martin was born in Athens county, Ohio, October 2, 1848, where he remained until the civil war when he enlisted in the Second Virginia cavalry and served until the close of the war.
He was married to Martha Virginia Ewing on December 9, 1869, and three daughters came to bless the union, Mrs. J. R. King, Mrs. E. N. Holmberg and Miss Pearl, all of whom together with his wife survive him to suffer the loss of a kind father and loving husband.
The Martins moved to Council Grove in December, 1878, and have since made their residence in Morris county. He passed away Thursday evening, September 22, aged 61 years, 11 months and 20 days. The funeral services were held Saturday morning in charge Rev. J. W. Reed, and interment was made in Greenwood cemetery.
