Gone to His Reward
Wm. E. Richey passed away last Monday, June 21, after a long sickness, at the age of 68 years and 21 days.
Wm. E. Richey was born in Athen county, Ohio, June 1, 1841 and was married to Margaret J. Miller, May 12, 1868. To this union were born two children, Mary T. and Anna M.
Mr. Richey enlisted in the Ohio Regiment, Co. A at the age of 15 years, where he spent 4 years and 5 months, during which time he served as sergeant. He came west with his wife in 1868 and settled west of Burlingame where he remained for 6 years and then moved 3 ½ miles southwest of Harveyville, where he lived until the present time.
He was collector of old and ancient relics and coins and had one of the nicest collections in the state.
While living at Burlingame he united with the Presbyterian Church, of which he has always been a faithful follower to the last.
He leaves a wife, two daughters and a host of friends to mourn his loss.
The funeral services were held at the home conducted by Rev. Flanagan of Burlingame, after which the remains were laid to their last resting place in the Harveyville cemetery.
