OBITAURY.

LENOIR—Col. Thos. B. Lenoir one of the oldest residents of this place, died at his late residence Dec. 11th, 1874.

  Col. Lenoir came to Thayer in 1870, now more that four years ago, and was well and favorably known for his many manly qualities and sterling virtues which endeared him to our citizens in a remarkable degree.  He was born Nov. 30, 1829 in Marion county Miss., and graduated at Bowdoin College, Maine, in 1856.  Two years later Arpril 6th 1858, he married Miss. Emma C. Clark daughter of Governor Clark, of Mississippi.  We well remember him as a man of honesty and kindness of heart.  Temperance and industry were cardinal virtues.  Though he did not belong to the sentimental school, no one was quicker to respond to the cry of distress or more generous in character.  Self-sacrifice was his pride.

  We unite with the public in their sympathy with the family their bereavement and untimely loss.  Cut down in the vigor of manhood his death is seriously felt by all our citizens.
