WRIGHT---Funeral
services for Samuel Wright, age 90, who died Sunday while on a visit to his son,
O. F. Wright, of Tribune, Kas., were held this afternoon at 3:30 at the parlors
of the City Undertaking Company. Rev. J. P. Gibney of Sunnydale, and Rev.
J. C. Bellel of this city, were in charge of the services. Interment was
in the Maple Grove cemetery. Mr. Wright was an old soldier and a member of
Garfield Post. He served three and a half years in the Civil War with
Company H, 2nd Minnesota Infantry. He made his home with his daughter,
Mrs. Sydney E. Baird, of Wichita. Besides Mrs. Baird and his son, he is
survived by Mrs. L. P. Kohl, of Furley, another daughter.
Citation:
Was
one of a detachment of 16 men who heroically defended a wagon train against the
attack of 125 cavalry, repulsed the attack and saved the train.
