Samuel McCombs.

  Samuel McCombs died at his home after an illness of a few months, last Saturday evening.  Funeral services were held at the house Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock, the services being in charge of the G. A. R.  Rev. Freeland preached the sermon.  The body was shipped to McPherson Monday morning, where interment was made.

  Mr. McCombs was born February 15, 1840.  He came to Kansas in 1871 and has lived here ever since.  He came to Baldwin in the spring of 1910.

  Mr. McCombs was an old soldier, serving in the 98th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, enlisting in the fall of 1861, ad serving until the spring of 1863 when he was wounded and later discharged.  He enlisted again in the fall of 1863 in the 135th Ohio Volunteer Infantry where he served until the end of the war.

  J. A. McCombs and his wife of St. Louis came in for the funeral, also Mrs. J. L. Patterson of Kansas City.  Mr. McCombs is a son and Mrs. Patterson a daughter of Mr. McCombs.
