S. A. Wickard Dead.
S. A. Wickard, for years a prominent grain and seed man of Chanute, died in Albuquerque, N. M., last Saturday. Sam had been in very poor health for years, and the only wonder among his acquaintances was that he was able to be up and look after his large business as he did. Mr. Wickard came to Chanute in an early day and has been closely identified with the interests of the town almost ever since.
Mr. Wickard was a native of Ohio
and lacked but a few days of being 60 years old. He served in the army
during the Rebellion. He leaves a widow and five children. The
funeral services were held in the M. E. church, Wednesday morning conducted by
Rev. Coker, assisted by Rev. Stafford and the remains were deposited in Elmwood.
