Robert Cravens Dead.

The body of Robert Cravens, for many years a citizen of Le Roy, was brought here for burial Sunday. The following obituary was written by the attending physician and it was handed to the REPORTER with a request for publication:

OUR COMRADE AND FRIEND

Robert Cravens a private of Co. D. 30th regiment of Indiana Volunteers died at his home in Baxter Springs, Kansas, at the age of 63 years on the 29th of June last.

Cause of death was heart failure, resulting from disease of the chest, chronic diarrhea, piles and catarrh of the bladder.

Also he was afflicted with inguinal hernia, and loss of appetite. Through all his sufferings and afflictions he was a model husband, father, friend and neighbor and did credit to the Cause. He always appreciated all favors and was thankful for all heartfelt sympathy. He wished the attendance of a spiritual adviser to have songs of praise and prayer at his bedside before he died.

After songs of praise and prayer by Brother White, (Methodist) of this city, and friends he acknowledged his faith in the cleansing power of the blood of our Lord and Savior.

I was by his bedside at the time of song and prayer, when Brother White, (Methodist) made an earnest appeal to our Lord and Savior in his behalf.

Brother Cravens closed his eyes and hands and said. “I believe, I trust thee, Oh, My Savior.”

His death was very peaceful and encouraging to his wife, children and friends.
