OBITUARY---R. S. FOSTER.

Robert Silas Foster was born near Columbus, Ohio, March 9, 1845, and died at his home in Humboldt, November 23, 1919, aged 74 years, 7 months and 14 days.

He grew to manhood in Ohio and enlisted in the army, serving three years in the Civil war in Company G, 113th Ohio Infantry. He was priviledged in having and active part in the service and was with Sherman in the march to the sea.

Mr. Foster came to Kansas in 1876 and settled in Johnson county, near Olathe. He was married to Elizabeth Reynolds February 2, 1882, and to this union were born five children; Mrs. Frank Gibson, Mrs. Clark Wilbur, Miss Pearl Foster and Miss Kathryn Foster, of Humboldt.

After a short sojourn in Missouri Mr. Foster moved with his family to Allen county, making his home on a farm 7 miles southeast of Humboldt until 1912, when he became a resident of Humboldt.

Mr. Foster was a quiet, unassuming man who was the best neighbors, and a kind and loving father, who found his home the most delightful spot in the world.

For about three years his health has been failing steadily and for the last year his splendid constitution began to give way more rapidly. Since July 1 he has been confined to the house, but for six months he was unable to lie down. The past few weeks he has suffered intensely and often expressed the wish to be at rest. He was rational in his last hours on earth and had been resting better than usual when with but little warning he slipped out into the other world.

Mr. Foster leaves a wife, five daughters, and five grandchildren to mourn his loss. The only other living relatives are two nephews, C. W. Milburn, of Iola, and W. F. Milburn, of Plattsmouth, Neb., and one neice, Mrs. G. B. Babcock, of Parsons.

Mr. Foster was converted in his younger years, but had not been satisfied with his experience so was baptized and received into the Methodist church in 1916.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church by Rev. C. L. Crippen at 2:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon and interment was in Mount Hope.
