Obituary.
Orville Roberts, born in
Evansville, Ind., Aug. 18, 1835, died at his home in Toronto, Kansas January 9,
1904. When 5 years old, with his parents moved to Quincy, Illinois, where
he lived until 22 years old, when he was married to Miss Jeannita Louerback in
1857. He enlisted in the 3rd Missouri cavalry and for three years served
as a Union soldier. After the war in 1868 he moved to a farm on the
Verdegris, but for fifteen years prior to his death, he had lived in Toronto.
He joined himself with the Masons February 28, 1874 and was raised to Master
Mason, April 27 the same year. At the time of his death he was 68 years, 4
months and 21 days old. He leaves a wife and one daughter, Mrs. Martin, of
Eureka to mourn his departure.
Funeral services from the
Presbyterian church Monday afternoon were conducted by Rev. Cargay assisted by
J. H. Sticher of Yates Center, after which the remains were interred in the east
cemetery.
