J. A. Lang was born in Columbiana Co., Ohio Feb. 16, 1828 and died at his home in Marena Twp. March 21 aged 68 years and 34 days. Mr. Lang had lived in this county the past 16 years and was a member of the United Brethren church. He leaves 2 daughters and 2 sons and a faithful wife. Mrs. J. Harrow, Mrs. John Houston, of Oklahoma, Roy Lang of Arkansas City and John Lang of Dodge City all were present for the funeral.
In 1861 when Ohio called for volunteers, he was among the first to enlist in the cause of the union, and served from ’61 to ’65. The remains were followed to the Marena cemetery by some 45 teams and about 200 relatives and friends.

J. A. Lang an old and respected citizen living near Marena died Saturday of heart disease. He was 68 years old and had lived in the same locality for 16 years. He was buried in the cemetery near by. He leaves a wife and four children. The boys, J. A who lives at Dodge City, Roy at Arkansas City and two daughters Mrs. Houston at Arkansas City and Mrs. Harrah who live somewhere in the strip.
