A PIONEER, DEAD

Funeral Services in Methodist Church at 3 Tomorrow Afternoon

  John Calvin Heminger, for more than forty years a resident of Chanute, died at the home of his son, Earl Heminger, 520 West Second street, at 7 o'clock last evening.  The funeral services will be held in the Methodist church at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.  They will be conducted by the pastor, Dr. W. A. Keve.  The Grand Army of the Republic will have charge of the services in Elmwood.

  Mr. Heminger was 84 years old, having been born March 11, 1837, in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas county, Ohio.

  He served for the Union in the Civil War, enlisting June 16, 1863, in Company B of the 129th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and being honorably discharged March 5, 1864.

  October 10, 1868, he married Margaret Jane Wolf, who died here August 13, 1909.  They moved from Ohio to Kansas in 1878 and Mr. Heminger had been a resident of this city ever since.  He was a carpenter and millwright by trade.

  He is survived by four sons--John W. Heminger of 412 North Highland avenue, Earl R. Heminger of 529 West Second street, Charles E. Heminger of Canton, O., and Frank E. Heminger of Kansas City, Kan.

  Mr. Heminger joined the Methodist church early in life.
