OBITUARY.

  James Kendall Oliver, son of Charles and Nancy Oliver was born at Piqua, Ohio, October 22, 1838, the fifth of a family of nine children, died September 12, 1907, age 68 yrs., 10 mo., 20 days.

  When he was ten years of age his parents moved to Indiana.  At the age of seventeen he united with the M. E. church of which he continued a faithful member until death.  At the beginning of the civil war he enlisted in Company A 72nd Reg’t Ind. Volunteer Infantry.  He was a member of the famous Wilders Brigade Mounted Infantry.  He served three years.

  October 12, 1865, he was married to Miss Margaret Ballard.  To this union were born five sons.  The wife and two sons, Albert and John, survive him.  Albert was with him in the last few days of his illness but was called away and could not be reached by wire to inform him of his father’s death.

  Mr. Oliver and his family moved to Howard Kansas in 1885 and to Elk Falls about six years ago.  He has been feeble several years and death came as a release from suffering.

  Funeral took place at the residence on West Montgomery St. Friday afternoon conducted by N. Hill, music by M. E. choir.  The G. A. R. post attended in honor of their comrade.  Our sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones.  Burial in Elk Falls cemetery.
