  Mr. J. M. Sweet, aged 58 years, who has resided in this city and vicinity for the past 20 years, died at his residence on Tuesday night. He had been ailing for the past few weeks and for several days was very bad.  He served during the war in Co. E, 77th Ill. Inf. and was spoken of by his superior officers as being an excellent soldier.  Rev. J. S. Reed will conduct the funeral services this morning at the Presbyterian church after which the remains will be interred in Elmwood Cemetery by the G. A. R. Post, of which he was a member.
