SHANNON—In Girard, Dec. 29th, 1913, Isaac H. Shannon, aged 66 years, 7 months, and 22 days.
Isaac Henry Shannon, a son of James W. and Marietta Shannon, was born in Covington, Fountain county, Indiana, May 7th, 1847.
At the early age of 11 years he lost his father and for some time thereafter drove a horse on a tow path, to help support his mother.
At the age of seventeen he enlisted in Co. B, 11th Indiana Infantry with which he served until the close of the war.
In 1867 he moved with his mother to Crawford county, Kansas, settling on a farm near Lightning creek. Later he moved to Chautauqua county, but returned to the home farm, where he remained until 1900, when he moved to Girard to engage in mercantile business.
During a series of meetings held near his farm he confessed his faith in Christ.
He has been a member of the Masonic Order, the Modern Woodmen, the Home Builder’s Union, the G. A. R., and the Fraternal Citizens.
He was married to Eveline Lupton September 11th, 1870. She preceded him to the other world December 4th, 1906. Of their three children Ella and Eddie died in infancy. Laura survives him.
