Death of H. H. Patton
Mr. H. H. Patton died at the National Military Home Leavenworth, Kansas, Sept. 26, 1921, aged 81 years, 8 months and 1 day.
Funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. M. Furniss, in Osawatomie, Kansas, at 10 a. m., Sept. 30th, with Rev. W. M. Rogers officiating. Interment was made at Greeley, Kansas. Mr. Patton is survived by five children and one step daughter, also two sisters.
H. H. Patton was born in Delaware county, Ohio January 25, 1840. He enlisted in Co. G, 4th O. V. I. in the Spring of 1861 and served until the end of the war. He came to Kansas in 1869, moving to Oklahoma in 1906, where he lived until 1918 when he came to Osawatomie to spend his remaining years with his children and at the National Military Home.
Mr. Patton united with the M. E. church at the age of 14 years, and he remained a faith member until called to his reward. “I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith, I have finished my course, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only but unto all them also that love his appearing.
