Deaths.
FINDLEY—Friday May 10, 1907, at 10:00 p. m. at his home in the north part of
Severy. Mr. Geo. H. Findley, aged 77 years, 15 days.
Mr. Findley was born in Pittsburg,
Pa., April 25, 1830, where he grew to manhood. He enlisted as a private in
Co. I, 168th Pa. Volunteer Infantry in Oct. 1862 and was honorably discharged
the following July with his company at Harrisburg. He came to Kansas in
1875 and on Nov. 23, 1886 at Topeka, was married to Mrs. Lucinda Holt, to which
union one daughter was born. He leaves a wife, a son by a former wife, a
daughter, Mrs. Lettie Sherlock, two step-sons and two brothers to mourn his
loss.
For the past 20 years he has made
this township his home and for the past ten years has resided in Severy.
He was a member of the U. B. church, having joined some 20 years ago and has
lived a true Christian life since then.
Funeral services were held by Rev.
Haffner in the U. B. church Sunday afternoon after which the remains were taken
to the Severy cemetery where the G. A. R. Post took charge and buried the
remains with their ritualistic services.
The relatives have the sympathy of
all in their loss.
