Obituary.

  George H. Dannat was born in Troy, N. Y., Jan. 12, 1838 and departed this life May 13, 1902.  At the age of 12 years he moved with his parents to Ohio, thence to Michigan where in 1865 he was united in marriage to Anne Sponable, of Hastings, who died in September, 1870.  This union was blessed with four sons; three of whom are still living:  Charley W., Willard H., and Walter M., of Montana.  In 1874, he married Francis A. Bronson, of the same state:  she died in 1882.  To them one son was born, John A. now living in Montana.  In 1877 he came to Kansas, in which state he has since resided, living near Neosho Falls for the past 18 years.  Nov. 20, 1883 he married Helen Jarvis, of Oswego, Kansas, who still survives him and now resides in this city.  His sister Mrs. Emma McNee, of Belmont, Okla., also survives him.  Mr. Dannat enlisted with the Michigan volunteers Aug. 1862 and served faithfully for three years when he was honorably discharged.  For the past two years his mind has been gradually failing, making it necessary to place him in the hospital at Osawatomie.  He was a faithful Christian, a member of the Baptist church in his youth afterward uniting with the U. B. denomination in which he has earnestly and persistently worked.  He has sought the good of others and in every station has done his duty always a devoted and loving husband, father and son who strove to fulfill his mission in life.

  The body was sent to Neosho Falls from Osawatomie and arrived Thursday morning.  Services were held at the house and interment made in Cedarvale cemetery the same afternoon.  The sympathy of the entire community is felt for Mrs. Dannat and those of his dear ones who are left to mourn for him.
