Obituary

Comfort M. Hoyle was born at Berlin, Mahoning county, Ohio, July 21, 1838. He departed this life May 11, 1919, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bert Crum, at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 20 days.

On August 13, 1878, he was married to Miss Emeline Flickinger. They came to Kansas in 1879, locating in Sedgwick county where he resided until death called him hence. To this union five children were born, two daughters and three sons Rollin H. Hoyle of Wichita, Warren Hoyle of Towanda, Irwin C. Hoyle of Greenwich, Mrs. Effie Deidrick of Wichita and Mrs. Edith Crum of this place.

Mr. Hoyle knew the hardships of war, as he was an old soldier and served during the Civil war in Co. G, 144th Ohio Volunteers.

He leaves to mourn his loss five children, eleven grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Amelia Ruggles of San Bernardino, California, and a host of friends. Mrs. Hoyle passed to the realms beyond on August 24, 1908.

Mr. Hoyle was always an active farmer, a kind friend and a good neighbor. He suffered for many years from the trouble which caused his death, that of cancer of the face, and his last days were ones of intense suffering.

The funeral services were held in the Indinola schoolhouse. Rev. G. W. Garrison officiating. The interment was made in the Andover cemetery.
