OBITUARY OF C. W. OLIVER.

  Charles William Oliver was born in Trimble county, Kentucky, 85 years ago.  He was married to Miss Mary Pennington of that county on December 27, 1840.  To this union eight children were born, six of whom are living.  With his family he first moved to Illinois, afterwards to Adair county, Missouri.  During the Civil War he entered into the Federal army doing cavalry scouting duty in Missouri mostly.  He served three years and two months. 

  He moved to Kansas in about 1885, locating on a farm near Severy.  About three years ago he was stricken with partial paralysis and being unable to continue his farming, he and his wife came to Howard.

  On November 3, 1907, he united with the Howard Presbyterian church on profession of faith.  In last days he repeatedly affirmed his faith and hope in Christ.

  He passed away at 8 o’clock Saturday morning, June 20, 1908, at the ripe old age of four score and five years.  “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.”

  The funeral services were held at the home conducted by Rev. J. E. Deggenderf and the remains wee intered in Grace Lawn cemetery Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock.  The pall-bearers were members of the local G. A. R. post.
