Funeral services for Charles C. Fisher were held at the home Monday September 26 at 3 o’clock, Rev. L. F. Waring officiating. All the old soldiers who were able attended the service of their departed comrade acted as pall bearers and conducted the Grand Army Service for burial which was very beautiful and impressive.

Charles C. Fisher was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, April 5, 1830 and passed away at his home on South Seventh street, Saturday, September 24, 1921, after several years of failing health. He spent his youth and grew to manhood at the place of his birth. He was married before the war to Miss Noble, and to this union was born three children, all of whom survive him. They are, Jessie Fisher of Joplin, Missouri, William Fisher of St. Joe, Missouri, and Mrs. Emma Kunberger of Kenosho, Wisconsin. When the war of the rebellion broke out Mr. Fisher enlisted and saw service from Indiana to Baton Rouge. He was a member of Company M. First Regiment Indiana Heavy Artillery, in which company he was sergeant. He was discharged at the close of the war at Baton Rouge. Mr. Fisher was always a most enthusiastic and patriotic member of the Post here and always took a prominent part in the celebrations and services on Memorial Day and Fourth of July. He was married on January 3, 1867 to Miss Sarah Short who still survives him. To this union was born three children who are still living. They are Frank B. Fisher, Mrs. Gertrude Tippitt of Kansas City, Missouri and John W. Fisher of Burlington. Mr. and Mrs. Fisher came to Kansas in the year 1873, and have made their home in or near Burlington ever since.
