C. B. Shipley Dead.

 

  C. B. Shipley died of old age at his home on West Hudson street Sunday night after being in poor health for some time.  He was brought to town in a buggy pension day, May 4, to sign his voucher and that was the last time he was able to be out.  He was past 81 years old.  The funeral will be held from the home at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon.

 

Camden B. Shipley

  Camden B. Shipley was born August 9, 1829, in Baltimore, Maryland, was married to Eliza Anna Dell, June 15, 1850.  Immediately after their marriage they moved into Pickaway county, Ohio, where they remained until they went to Iowa about the year 1854, from there they moved back to Ohio, remaining until they came to Kansas 26 years ago April 5.  To them were born nine children:  Adah Zella Rebecca Gilbert of London, Eng., John Hamlet and Grafton Lewis both of Pickaway county Ohio, Willie Douglas who died a number of years ago; Anice Richardson of Butler, Mo., and Isabelle Ann, Charley, Ira and Mrs. Ella Richards all of Burlington; besides twenty grandchildren and nine greatgrand-children.

  Mr. Shipley was an old soldier of company A 114th regiment, Ohio Volunteer infantry.  He was not a member of any church.  The children who cared for him during his last sickness say he was very patient.  The wife preceeded her husband to the great beyond five years ago last March.  After an illness lasting two years.  Mr. Shipley departed this life May 16 aged 80 years, 10 months, 7 days.  The funeral was held from his home on West Hudson street Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock in charge of Elder L. M. Wiles of the Christian church.
