Obituary.

The remains of the late Calvin Myers were brought up from Texas Sunday morning and that afternoon were interred in the Mulvane cemetery after a funeral service at the U. E. church conducted by the Rev. Chas. Farney, assisted by Rev. Walls. The church was filled with the old friends and neighbors of the deceased and the G. A R. marched in a body from the home to the church.

Calvin Myers was born in Fountain County, Ind., Jan. 7, 1837. He was first married to Elizabeth Marshall in Indiana, Nov. 4, 1859. To this union was born six children, five sons and a daughter. Of these children two sons M. E. and Albert G. are dead and buried in the Mulvane cemetery by the side of their mother who died Feb. 11th, 1902. Of the four living children, John S. Myers is City Auditor of Los Angeles, W. H. Myers is a teacher in Indiana and L. H. Myers, who was present at the funeral, is in business in Chicago. The daughter is Mrs. J. F. Hosteller of Mulvane.

Mr. Myers was married June 30, 1912 at Midland, Tex., to Mrs. Anna Coggins of that city.

In his early manhood Mr. Myers enlisted in the service of his country in the C Company of the 63rd Indiana Volunteers, and for nearly three years fought to save the Union. When quite young he was converted and united with the United Brethern church. He came to Mulvane about the year 1890, settling on the farm now owned by George Howard, just north of town, and nobody ever lived in the community that was more generally liked than he. After the death of his wife he sold out and left here and died at Midland, Texas, March 6th, 1913.

The floral tributes were beautiful and helped to show how he was esteemed by his old neighbors and friends.
