Obituary of JAMES W. "BILL" CRAVEN
James W. "Bill" Craven, 83, Russell, died Monday, August 6, 2001, at Russell Regional Hospital, Russell.

He was born July 3, 1918, in Norton County, the son of James W. and Alice Foulke Craven.

He lived most of his life in the Fairport and Russell area. For several years he worked for Boeing at Wichita. After World War II he returned to Russell where he owned and operated his own auto repair shop for many years, retiring in 1988.

He was a World War II veteran. He was a life member of the VFW; member of the Amrican Legion; and a member of the St. John Lutheran Church all of Russell.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, his wife, Georgina; three brothers Charles "Skeet", Arthur "Red" and Harold Craven; and one sister, Irene Baxter.

Survivors include: one son, Richard Crave, Kalamazoo, Michigan; and three grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 9, at Pohlman's Memorial Chapel, Russell, with Rev. Henry Hartman officiating.

Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemeter, Russell.

Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, and from 9 a.m. to time of service, Thursday, August 9, at the mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church, or St. John Lutheran Cemetery Fund in care of the mortuary.
