ELMA MARIE KEIL
Elma Marie Keil, daughter of Andrew and Catherina Dorothea (Gebhart) Galliart, was born September 27, 1912, in Russell County near Dubuque. Her death occurred on September 6, 1983, at her home in Russell at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 9 days.

Elma lived her early life on the family farm in the Dubuque area, received her basic education in the Dubuque school and on May 26, 1935, was united in marriage to Gerhard Emanuel Keil at Milberger, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children: Carol, Doloris and Geraldine.
Her life was filled with the many and varied activities of a farming housewife, homemaker and mother.

She lived her early married life on the family farm in Barton County near Milberger and on August 7, 1962, moved from the farm to Russell. She worked part time at Klema's IGA for about six years. She and Gerhard were custodians at the Home State Bank for about seven years. She continued to work at the bank after the death of her husband Gerhard on April 21, 1979, and in 1981 she retired from active work.

Elma's early Christian life was associated with the Dubuque Lutheran Church, she was baptized there on May 1, 1913, and later confirmed in that church. After her marriage she attended the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Milberger, transferring her membership to St. John Lutheran Church when she moved to Russell. She was always faithful to her church attendance.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerhard, on April 21, 1979; one brother, Andrew Galliart, and an infant sister.
Survivors are her daughters: Mrs. Leon (Carol) Keil, Mrs. Earlin (Deloris) Nuss and Mrs. Marion (Geraldine) Counts, all of Russell, and five grandchildren. Other survivors are three brothers: Albert Galliart of Russell, Bill Gilliart of Great Bend and Ernest Galliart of Beaver; one sister, Mrs. Edward (Emma) Brack, of Dorrance; several other relatives and a host of friends.
