Obituary of ROWLAND MORGAN |
ROWLAND MORGAN died Friday morning at 9:15 o'clock at his
home on East Sixth avenue. He had been in failing health for months; But
his condition was not considered serious until last week. Bladder trouble
was the cause of his death. Rowland Morgan was born in Montgomeryshire, North Wales, July 22, 1836. He grew to manhood near his place of birth, and learned the stonemason trade. He was married February 4,1865 to Miss Ellen Jones, a native of Festiniog, Merionethshire, and two years later, the family came to America, settling in Ohio, where Mr. Morgan worked at his trade. A year later the family moved to Kansas, where they have since lived. Upon coming to Emporia they located on a farm south of town, lived there until four years ago when they moved to town. Since boyhood Mr. Morgan has been an active church member and upon coming to Emporia united immediately with the Second Presbyterian church, and has at all times been faithful and willing in the performance of his duties. Besides his wife, he leaves one brother, Thomas Morgan, of Emporia and four children. They are Mrs. Guy B. Sierer of Twin Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Gary Wilson of Emporia; Miss Esther V. Morgan of Emporia; William J. Morgan of Glens Ferry, Idaho. This is the g-g-g-grandfather of Jobriath M. Morgan of Vancouver, Washington. Parry, D. L Thomas, Edward O. Davis and Owen Thomas. The active Roland Morgan was the g-g-grandfather of Lynn Tracy Morgan of Morgan, Utah |
