Obituary of MINNIE PEARL STALEY
FUNERAL of MRS. A. E. STALEY

Funeral service for Mrs. A. E. Staley, who died Friday morning at her home, 10 miles east of Emporia, were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home. Rev. Claude G. Large, pastor of the Christian church, of Emporia, conducted the services. Interment was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Alta Staley, Kenneth Staley, Archie Staley, William Jacob, Dick Laughlin and Chester Van Sickle. Mrs. Max Harris sang, accompanied by Miss Beulah Weyler.

Mrs. Staley was the youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Traylor. She was born in a little log cabin, six miles east of Emporia. Mrs. Staley's maiden name was Minnie Pearl Traylor. When she was a small child, she moved with her parents to Greenwood county, and later returned to Lyon county, where she spent the remainder of her life.  Although Mrs. Staley was not one of the oldest of the old settlers, she experienced and was
familiar with many of the trials of the pioneers. She was married to Alta E. Staley. All of her children were with her when she died.

Mrs. Staley is survived by her husband; three sons, Alta E. Staley, Jr., of Emporia; Archie A. Staley, of Emporia; and Kenneth C. Staley, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Gladys Laughlin, of Americus; Mrs. Ruth Jacob, of Reading; Mrs. Kathryn Laughlin, of Americus, and Mrs. Hazel Van Sickle, of Emporia; 14 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. B. F. Fowler, of Emporia. One son, John J. Staley, is dead.
