OSWEGO INDEPENDENT, 27 December 1907
Obituary of THOMAS BENTON PRUITT
DIED--At his home in Oswego, Kansas, Sept. 20, 1907, at 8 o'clock p.m. Thomas Benton Pruitt, aged 32 years, 8 months and 11 days.
The deceased is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Pruitt of Oswego, and was born and raised here. A few years ago he married Miss Annis Martin, who with two children, a boy and girl, survive him. For a number of months Mr. Pruitt had been running a pool hall, and a few weeks prior to his death went to Bartlesville, Okla., to temporarily take the place of his brother, Pearl who is a foreman of a large livery stable there and was required to quit work by illness. Returning from Bartlesville, he was taken sick with a fever and confined to his home for a few days. He improved, but was again stricken with typhoid fever, which caused his death.
Funeral Services were held at the family residence, Sunday, September 22, at 2 o'clock, and were largely attended by old time friends of the deceased and family. Services were conducted by Rev L. S. Jones of the M. church, and the choir sang appropriate songs.
