Obituary of MAJOR EVERY

Major Every, 47, well known Parsons contractor, died at 5:25 a.m. Sunday following an extended period of ill health. Mr. Every suffered from heart trouble and had been in a critical condition for the past two months. He entered the Mercy hospital Saturday afternoon. A lifelong Parsonian, he was born here July 28, 1897.
When a young man he entered partnership with his father in the contracting business and for a number of years operated the business alone, but under the original name of F. A. Every & Son. During his career he has erected many large buildings such as churches and public buildings throughout this area and has built many homes in Parsons. He was the contractor for the new Lincoln school at Independence and at the time of his death was engaged in the construction of an addition to the Neosho Valley Cooperative creamery at Erie.
He was married August 26, 1918, at St. Paul to Miss Clara E. Lynch, St. Paul, who survives him. He is also survived by one daughter, Mrs. John A. Switlik and one son Lt. Francis Max Every. Both the son and son-in-law are in the armed forces in Europe. He is also survived by two grandsons, Max Jr. and John A Switlik Jr.: his father, Frank A. Every, Parsons grocer and a brother Arthur V. Every, Parsons. He was a member of the Parsons chapter of American War Dads and of St. Patricks Catholic church, where services will be conducted by the Rev. Fr. Quimm. The body lies in state at the Rude Funeral Home.
