Obituary of JOHN ROBERT TOWLES |
John Robert Towles was born in Lewis Co, Mo, May 8,
1846; died at Parsons, Kan., Sept. 19, 1915. He was the 2nd of a family of
7 children, only 2 of whom survive: Henry C. of Ashmore, Ill., and David
of Iola, Ill. At the age of 20 years he was married to Miss Nannie Crook. Of the 6 children born to them only one survives. After the death of his 1st wife he was married in 1880 to Miss Marsha
McCammish, and to them were born 8
Gentle of speech, broad in comprehension, searching in his questions,
keen in analysis, conservative in judgment, kind in criticism,--he both
taught and received teaching as few men can. His faith never failed, but
grew with Quietly humming the melodies of Zion he rode with |
