THE PARSONS SUN, 11 March 1932
Obituary of JOHN D. EVERY
Blood poisoning which developed after he had removed a
callous from a foot proved fatal last night to J. D. Every, 71, a resident of Labette county for the last 65 years. Mr. Every died at 6:15 last night at his home, five miles southwest of Oswego.
Last week Mr. Every removed a callous from the great toe of his right foot with a razor blade. Saturday his toe became infected and he was taken to the Oswego hospital where it was discovered he was suffering from blood poison and the toe amputated. Sunday he told attendants he was feeling well again and requested that he be permitted to return home. During the week his condition failed to improve and his death occurred last night.
Born in Delaware county, New York, in 1861, Mr. Every came to Kansas at the age of 6 with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Every, who homesteaded a farm four miles north of Labette City. In 1886, he married Miss Alice Hill in Oswego and made their residence on the family home until 1897 when they moved to their present home.
He is survived by his widow and four brothers and one sister. They are: G. T. Every, Chanute; Frank Every, Parsons; Albert Every, Stoutsville, Missouri, W.S. Every, Delta, Colorado, and Mrs. Albert Smith, Parsons. There are no children.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the McAuley funeral home here and interment will be in Oakwood cemetery at Parsons.
