Obituary of ETHEL S. PRUITT |
Life Time Resident of This City and Community, Succumbed to a Long Illness at
the Oswego Hospital Sunday Morning. Services and Burial Wednesday. Folks in this city and community were saddened Sunday when it was announced that Mrs. Ethel S. Pruitt, wife of Otto P. Pruitt had passed away after a long illness. She had been bedfast for a year and half and her condition had been critical for several days. Death came to her at Oswego Hospital at 8:50 a., at the age of 57 years. She was born Ethel Manar on a farm near Hallowell May 10, 1898. With her family she moved to Coffeyville, where they resided for some time moving to Oswego in 1919. On March 14, 1920 she was united in marriage with Otto P. Pruitt and they had since made their home here where he has long been a city employee. She is survived by her husband and by four sons, Andrew Pruitt of Tacoma, Washington; Glenn Pruitt of Lansing, and Harold and Jack Pruitt of the home, and by two daughters, Mrs. Lorene Hiatt and Mrs. Annie Burrows both of Tacoma, Washington. She is survived also by three grand children. One daughter preceded her in death. Mrs. Pruitt was a member of the church of the Nazarene, in this city. She was a good wife and mother. Services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 20 in the Hammons Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Ben S. Lakey pastor of the Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. B. J. Lakey sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset," with accompaniments by Mrs. Herbert Blessman. Pall bearers were Odell Sullivant, D. C. Intelmmann, R. H. Montgomery, Paul Watt, Chas. Terrill and Alva Jackson. Interment was in Oswego Cemetery under direction of the Hammons Funeral Home. |
