According to the Lefmann Land History, Some of the Adams family members died during a smallpox epidemic. At that time, the James Finley family lived on the land adjoining the timber land. They gave permission for the Adams family to bury their dead on the Finley land. The author mentions contact with this Indian family, and cites the location of gravestones. The location of a stone for James Adams was mentioned twice in this narrative. Transcriber's Note: This is a complete transcription by reading and photographing the gravestones. Photos available upon request. Cemetery Condition: All that remains of this family burial ground is the old wooden fence constructed when the land was farmed to help preserve it,and 4 stones. The stones are not affixed and have been stored inside and just recently place back in the burial ground. The area surrounding the burial site is farmed, and the burial area is otherwise undisturbed. Photos available upon request. About the Cemetery: Adams Cemetery is located in western McCamish Twp, Johnson Co, KS, on the east side of the woods that border Captain Creek.
