Obituary of BARTLETT SHAW |
Bartlett Shaw died on Feb. 15, 1896, at about 6:30 p.m., while sitting in his chair talking with his family, (wife and daughter). He had been to Lawrence that day, came home and ate a hearty supper, did his chores, and sat down to spend the evening. When he quit talking the folks thought he had dropped off to sleep, but noticed that he looked rather unusual. They went to him and tried to arouse him, then called in his son and a few heighbors, afterwards a doctor, but all efforts to arouse him failed. He was born July 30, 1836; enlisted in the 1st Mass. vol. cavalry Sept. 20, 1861; was mustered out Nov. 7, 1864. |
