Obituary of JOSEPH A. "JOEY" HAMMERSCHMIDT
Joseph A. "Joey" Hammerschmidt, one year and six months old, died Tuesday, February 19, 2002, at his home.

He was born August 16, 2000, at Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Shawn M. Klaus-Hammerschmidt and Jennifer J. Denning.

Survivors include: his father, Hays; his mother, of the home; two brothers, Charlie S. Stieben and Max D. Stieben, of the home; maternal grandparents, Dean P. and Arlene Leiker Denning, Hays; paternal grandparents, Mike and Jolene Duay Burd, Hays; Great-grandparents, Mary A. Leiker, Adolph and Freda Karlin Hammerschmidt, all of Hays; and Mary Randa Klaus, Schoenchen.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Michael Hammerschmidt, and great-grandparents, Max and Frances Kreutzer Denning, Clarence J. Leiker, Julius Klaus, and Helen Meder Duay.

Services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 21, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, with Fr. Donald D. Zimmerman officiating. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Memorials are suggested to Children's Mercy Hospital Chapel Fund, Ronald McDonald House of Midtown Kansas City, Missouri or Masses.
